The kids are all tucked into bed as our last day here in KOP ends. We started our day off with pancakes. Then we walked down to Hope Community Church's main campus for church. We worshiped with the church and learned how to connect with other followers of Jesus. We then headed up to Sunday School with the Youth@Hope middle school. After lunch we head out to two service projects. One was making freezer meals for local homeless shelters. We made 6 pans of baked ziti (one of which we ate for dinner). We also helped out at the church with some odds and ends cleaning projects. The other group went out and helped stack and split wood for a local family. We then enjoyed a pan of baked ziti and went off to youth group with the Youth@Hope. We got a message from Mandy and played games. We then "snuck" into High School small group time for worship. We wrapped up the night writing thank you notes and playing games.
We started the day off early and headed out to Philadelphia. We went to see the Liberty Bell, the Philly Love statue, and ran up the Rocky Steps at the Art museum. After a quick lunch at Hope Community Church we went out to the Norristown transit center to hand out food, hot drinks, and winter clothing to anyone who was in need. After that we split up guys and girls to shower at a two local families houses. The girls then went off to play bingo at a local nursing home. We all met back up and ate a delicious dinner at the Desilets. We are now hanging out with the youth@hope middle schoolers and are looking forward to a great day tomorrow worshiping with Hope Community Church.
We're off!!The van is pack with excited kids and lots of stuff. We have headed out and are on our way to King of Prussia. We are looking forward to serving, learning, and growing with each other this weekend.
We are sad to see the end of our weekend in KOP (but happy to be out of the car). We had a great time meeting new friends and connecting with old ones. We tried new things and went to new places. But most of all we learned about what it means to be on Gods team and how we can grow the team.
We are about to say goodnight on our third and final night here in KOP. We are tired after our fun filled day. We kicked off the morning with quiet time and baked French toast (with real maple syrup). We then joined Hope Community Church for their worship service. Not only did we sing and listen to a great sermon, we joined Pastor Roman on stage for an MLK day of serving top ten. We then went to lunch with Pastor Roman, his wife, and Pastor George. After lunch we took a trip to the King of Prussia Mall. 45 mins and multiple trips up and down the escalators later we left the mall for a drive through Valley Forge National Park. Before returning to Hope Church for Youth Group, we stopped in at ToysRUs. At 5:30 we joined in with the 5th-8th grade youth group for a message and lots of games. We filled up on tacos for dinner thanks to Amy and her family. Chris lead us and the high schoolers in worship. We ended our night playing in the gym and discussing our weekend and how to carry forward all of the things that we learned.
Day two in KOP is coming to an end! Our day started with a great breakfast made by a Hope family and some quiet time reading the Bible. We spent the morning serving at Hope Community Church. We split into two groups and moved wood, filled a dumpster, sorted supplies, and even smashed TVs! Then, after a quick lunch, we split up again. The afternoon consisted of two different projects - bowling with the homeless and bingo with seniors. We squeezed in some quick showers, a stop for Philly soft pretzels, and some games (rock band was a huge hit!). We were blessed again by receiving dinner from a Hope family - meatball subs and baked ziti! We then came back to the church to play "Zombies" and try out some famous Philly Water Ice with our Youth@Hope friends. We wrapped our night up with "Mad props" (thanking people who did awesome stuff), "Yay God's" (thanking God for doing awesome stuff), and a talk by Tim.
